Gezz, it’s Valentine’s Day!

(The title is a play on words in Spanish)

Happy Valentine’s Day Caracola pequena 001for everyone! Today it’s still the day of love and friendship. And today I’m posting a couple of drawings that I have done of sea shells, a subject that I can’t stop liking. I made both drawings using live models that I have at home, the one above on my sketchbook, the other one on a 180g Canson paper, and both done during my waiting at my son’s classes (yes, agaaaaain!). So that we have some sea memories today (the sea is romantic, isn’t it? :)

Saludos.

Hola Carolina, bonitos dibujos a lápiz.

Hi Carolina, thanks for visiting my blog. I've been looking at you drawings and I really like your style. I did try to translate the Spanish (it's a bit like Italian), then I realised it was in English underneath!

Hello Caroline,
The shell drawings are really lovely. I like the inside of the shell, beautifully done. It is also the memories of the day by the sea and finding the shells which make the drawings special.
The quiet hour in the waiting room is obviously good for your drawing.
A late Happy Valentine.

Hola Carolina, I don't know how you can do anything while waiting. I'm a patient "waiter" but I am usually too busy watching the other people - AND trying to hear what they're talking about. Your drawings are really beautiful - they are almost 3D! How do you do it? :-) I know, you're a super-mom! Happy Valentines Day to you & yours

¡Hola Manel!

Hi Cathy!
Thank you for visiting mine :) Thank you so much for your kind words. Yes, I started to translate my posts a while ago when I realized that I had visitors from English speaking countries. I like translating, so why not?
I was checking the monthly sketch project and I found your blog, which I like a lot :)
Best regards,
Carolina

Carolina

¡Hola Mar!
Gracias querida, tus palabras me alientan y me hacen sonreir :)
Carolina

Hi Millie!
Thank you very much :) To tell you the truth, the inside of that shell is my favorite too.
Yes, all the stories behind every single thing we do, especially our paintings, are something to treasure.
You know, lately I'm not allowed to stay in the waiting room of the afternoon classes anymore (the 'classes' are therapy, and my son needs to 'feel' more independence, so I have to wait in the car! Now I have to start again sketching in the car *sigh*)
Lots of hugs,
Carolina

Hi Janet!
Thank you so much for your nice words :) I want to believe that I do know how to sketch shells, I'll have to practice harder to convince myself...
Mmm, I wonder what came up to your mind after thinking about the sea... (just kidding :)
A big hug,
Carolina

¡Hola Ken!
Actually having those quiet minutes (appx an hour) are just what I need. At home the kids are always making noise or wanting to know what I'm doing, and I can't focus and start anything related to painting.
When I'm waiting and not painting and there's people around, I also like to hear what people say (we should be ashamed! ;)
Lots of hugs, and thanks a lot for your nice words,
Carolina

¡Hola Davman!
Carolina

Thank you so much for your comments Carolina. You've never failed to comment on all my posts so far, and I regret that I couldn't show the same courtesy to yours as well. Your shells drawings are magnificent, and of course your shading techniques are simply masterful. :) Just a comment from you feels like a great accomplishment to me. Thanks again

Carolina dijo...

Hi Alex!
You're way too kind with me :) YOU are the master of graphite, your portraits especially are among my favorite ones of yours. Thanks a lot for stopping by.
Best regards,
Carolina

Hola Froiliuba,
Carolina

I love pencil sketches, Carolina!

These shells turned out great!

They almost remind me of botanical journal pages.

Hi Dean,
Thank you again, and I have to admit that when I make this kind of sketches I totally feel as if I was at college again ...
