Estos son unos dibujos más que he estado haciendo mientras espero. Con barra de grafito (9B), y lápices B, 3B, 5B, sobre papel bond A5 de 90g.

These are a few other sketches that I have been doing while I wait. With a graphite bar (9B), and B, 3B, 5B pencils, on A5 90g bond paper.

Lo que va del verano - Aretes

Aretes que llevo en la cartera (por diversas razones) y otros prestados, lápiz y grafito

Earrings I keep in my purse (for different reasons) and a lended one, pencil and graphite.

Y bueno, ya pasó un mes del año, casi la mitad del varano. Soy oficialmente la chofer de mis hijos :) y mientras espero a que terminen sus clases (natación, judo, etc. más o menos 15 viajes a la semana), a veces me animo a dibujar (cuando veo que voy a tener suficiente tiempo, por lo menos media hora corrida).

Ya no tengo NINGUNA vergüenza de dibujar en público, y es más, me parece, por lo menos en la clase de natación, que podría haber inspirado al menos a una persona, otra mamá, a hacer algo productivo mientras espera (ella también está con cuaderno y lápiz, pero no dibuja, saca cuentas, o algo así...)

Oh! y casi lo olvidaba, feliz segundo aniversario, querido blog :)

Summer so far - Earrings

And well, one month of the year is already gone, almost half of summer. I'm the official driver of my kids :) and while I wait for their classes to finish (swimming, judo, etc. more or less 15 trips per week) sometimes I feel like sketching (when I see I'll have enough time, at least a full and uninterrupted half an hour).

Now I have NO shame at all of sketching in public; even more, I think, at least at swimming class, I might have inspired one other waiting mom (she also sits with a notebook and pen, but she doesn't draw, she does some kind of math...)

Conejín

Querido blog, hace tanto tiempo que no te visitaba, pero al fin pude parar un ratito para dejar un nuevo dibujo (el único que tengo, dicho sea de paso). Mi vida anda a mil por hora (hemos tenido nuevas reparaciones/remodelaciones en la casa, he retomado la empresa de chocolates que había dejado, sigo con las traducciones, además de los chicos y las cosas que "se supone debo hacer como mamá"). Pero nunca te olvido, querido blog, te recuerdo junto con todas las maravillosas personas que me fuiste presentando y que recuerdo igual pero que no tengo tiempo de visitar. Mándales muchos saludos de mi parte.

Little Bunny

Dear blog, it's been so long since my last visit, but I finally was able to stop for a while and leave you a new drawing (the only one I have, by the way). My life is running at a thousand mph (we had to do new repairing/remodeling in the house, I have retaken the chocolate business I had left, I keep doing translations, besides the kids and the stuff "I'm supposed to do as a mom"). But I never forget you, dear blog, I remember you and all the wonderful people that you kept introducing to me who I remember too but who I have no time to visit. Please send them my best wishes.

Sigo Ocupada

Sigo ocupada, creo que eso no va a cambiar pronto :) Estuve un poco bajoneada y desanimada en el tema del arte sabe Dios por qué, pero ya pasó, bueno, está pasando. Ya vi que no voy a poder hacer nada muy complejo pronto, pero sí volver a dibujar en el auto o en la sala de espera de las clases de mis hijos. Hay poca gente y ya me conocen, así que no hay mayor problema. Incluso enseño mi dibujo al final (fue lo que hice con este perrito). Este dibujo lo hice sin prisas y disfrutando cada trazo, en dos sentadas en una sala de espera (2 horas más o menos). El modelo: de una revista de mascotas. Los ojos quedaron un poco más pequeños que en el original, y me parece que las orejas un poco chuecas, pero... qué más da. Igual me gusta mucho.

Las entradas a mi blog (y mis visitas a los suyos) van a seguir un poco más espaciadas, a menos que ocurra algo que ayude a que eso cambie. Pero seguiré aquí de todas maneras. Gracias por estar allí amigos.

I'm Still Busy

I'm still busy, and I think that's not going to change soon :) I've been a little bit down and discouraged about art God knows why, but it's over now, well, it's going away. I now know that I won't be able to do anything too complex any time soon, but I'll go back to drawing on the car or at the waiting rooms of my kids' classes. There's only a few people there and they already know me, so there's not much problem. I even show my drawing at the end (that's what I did with this doggy). I did this drawing with no rush and enjoying every stroke, in two sittings at a waiting room. The model: from a pet magazine. The eyes ended up a little bit smaller than the original, and I think the ears are not exactly balanced, but... whatever. I still like it a lot.

My blog entries (and my visits to yours) will still be distant, unless something happens that helps that to change. But I'l be here anyway. Thank you for being there friends.

Realmente he estado muy ocupada últimamente. He estado muriendo por poner algo (este cisne), pero no tenía tiempo de sentarme y concentrarme en el blog. Me he dado tiempo para pasar a mirar los blogs que me rodean y que disfruto visitando, pero para cuando terminaba, ¡ya no tenía tiempo de postear!

Este año soy delegada (voluntaria) de las clases de mis hijos. Yo pensé que esto iba a ser cosa relativamente fácil, pero no me esperaba tanto trabajo. En el colegio de mi hija hubo un campeonato de fútbol relámpago en el cual tuvimos que participar organizando un stand de intercambio de stickers/figuritas de los álbumes del mundial. Y por el día del maestro, en el colegio de mi hijo, hicimos a mano el regalo para las 21 profesoras. (Y claro, yo fui de las más entusiastas en proponerlo y sostener la idea, así que tuve que 'fajarme' con buena parte del trabajo). En otra entrada trataré de poner las fotos de lo que hicimos.

Ah, y el cisne, lo hice hace más o menos un mes atrás, en casa de mis padres, cuando estábamos de visita. Foto original de Internet, Flickr, de fturmog para ser más exactos. Espero no le moleste...

Really Busy

I have been really busy lately. I've been dying to post something (the swan) but I had no time to sit and focus on the blog. I took the time to stop by the 'surrounding' blogs, the ones I enjoy visiting, but when I was done, I had no time left for posting!

This year I'm the (volunteer) 'class delegate' [I wonder what's the correct word for this in English] of my children's classes. I thought this was going to be something relatively easy, but I didn't expect so much work. At my daughter's school they organized a quick soccer championship and we had to participate organizing a sticker-interchange stand (those from the soccer world cup sticker albums). And, for teacher's day, at my son's school, we hand made the 21 teacher's gifts (and of course, I was one of the most enthusiasts in proposing and supporting the hand-made idea, so I had to deal with a good portion of the work). I'll try to show you some photos of what we did on another post.

Oh, and the swan, I made it approximately one month ago, at my parent's home during a visit. Original photo from the Internet, Flickr, from fturmog to be more precise. Hope he/she don't mind...

¡Se hizo la luz!

Bueno, este es otro caso de pintura desesperada. Desesperada por salir. Luego del bajón del último post, que gracias a Dios ya se me está pasando (millones de gracias por todas sus alentadoras palabras, de corazón), me di cuenta de varias cosas que había perdido de vista un poco. Pintar se supone que debe ser divertido! Incluso si me estoy esforzando y saliendo de mi “zona cómoda”; no me debo comparar con nadie (no me debo comparar con nadie, no me debo comparar con nadie!!!); y debo hacer más cosas que me provoquen realmente.

Como el dibujo que pongo hoy. No es un tema muy común… pero qué importa! Fue lo que me  provocó hacer en ese momento (un sábado por la noche, donde no había ninguna presión de nada, los chicos se habían quedado a dormir en casa de sus abuelitos, mi esposo veía tele y yo lo acompañaba dibujando). Se cumplía lo que puse en mi perfil: mucho tiempo y espacio a mi disposición. Comencé a las 12 y terminé como a las 2 a.m., más o menos. Y sí, no salimos pues :)

And there was light!

Well, this is another case of desperate painting. Desperate for coming to light.  After my down of the last post, that thank God is already going away (million thanks for all your encouraging words, from the heart), I realized that I had somehow stopped considering a few things. Painting is supposed to be fun! Even if I’m trying hard and going out of my “comfort zone”; I shouldn’t compare myself with anyone else (I shouldn’t compare myself with anyone else , I shouldn’t compare myself with anyone else!!!); and I have to make more things that I really enjoy making.

Just like the drawing that I’m posting today.  It’s not much of a common subject, but …who cares! That’s what I felt like to paint at that moment (a Saturday night, where there was no pressure involved about anything, the kids were sleeping over at their grandparents, my husband was watching TV and I was by his side drawing).  I was having just what I have included on my profile:  a lot of time and space for me.  I started at 12 and finished around 2 a.m. And yes, we didn’t go out :)

Compro tiempo

Compro tiempo, pago con dibujos y/o pinturas. Por 20’ pago con garabatos; si son consecutivos, y llegan a tres lotes seguidos, puedo entregar a cambio un dibujo a lápiz con trabajo tonal casi al 100% (formato pequeño). Con lotes de 6 u 8 horas, repartidos en 2 a 4 días, puedo entregar pinturas en lápices de colores de tamaño pequeño. ¿Alguien se anima?

El dibujo que aparece hoy aquí no es pago para nadie porque ese tiempo, he de confesarlo, lo robé…

I Purchase Time

I purchase time, I pay with sketches and/or paintings. For 20’ I pay with doodles, if the 20’ are given in three consecutive batches, I can tradeoff a pencil sketch with tonal work almost complete (small format). With batches of 6 to 8 hours, spread on 2 to 4 days, I can deliver colored pencil paintings in small format. Anyone?

The drawing that is shown here isn’t a payment because that time, I must confess, was stolen…

¡Caracolas, hoy es San Valentín!

¡Feliz Día de San Valentín para todo el mundo! Hoy, todavía, es el día del amor y la amistad. Y hoy pongo un par de dibujos que tengo hechos de caracolas de mar, tema que no deja de gustarme. Ambos dibujos los hice usando como modelo unas conchitas que tengo en casa, la de arriba en una hoja de mi sketchbook, y la otra en una hoja de papel Canson de 180g, ambos hechos en sendas esperas de las clases de mi hijo (sí, ooooootra vez!). Para traernos un poco de aires marinos en este día (el mar es romántico, ¿o no? :)

Gezz, it’s Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day for everyone! Today it’s still the day of love and friendship. And today I’m posting a couple of drawings that I have done of sea shells, a subject that I can’t stop liking. I made both drawings using live models that I have at home, the one above on my sketchbook, the other one on a 180g Canson paper, and both done during my waiting at my son’s classes (yes, agaaaaain!). So that we have some sea memories today (the sea is romantic, isn’t it? :)

Hoy toca abalorios

En esta entrada pongo unos dibujos de unos abalorios (cuentas, gemas) y un arete (aro, pendiente) que hice el otro día mientras estábamos de visita en casa de mis padres. He estado un poco vaguilla últimamente (en la pintura…), pero es que las cosas están un poco movidas en casa con esto de las vacaciones de verano de los chicos y algunos detallitos más. Ha sido una gracia que pudiera hacer aunque sea esto últimamente (y otro dibujo que mostraré después), disculparán la pequeñez y la sencillez. Y estoy estrenando Windows Live Writer, vamos a ver qué tal sale…

Today We’re Having Beads

I’m including a couple of sketches of beads and an earring that I made the other day while visiting my parents. I’ve been a little bit of a loafer (in painting…) lately because things are a little bit hectic at home due to the kids’ summer holidays and a few other reasons. It’s been sort of a miracle that I had the time to finish these (and one drawing that I will show later), you’ll have to forgive the simplicity this time. And I’m using Windows Live Writer for the first time, let’s see how it goes…

Esta es una flor de bougainvillea recogida en la puerta de las clases de mi hijo. El conejo salió de una revista mientras lo esperaba en otras clases... (a solas, no tuve 'público', por si acaso :)

Este es en realidad el primer dibujo que he hecho este 2010, hace dos días, otra vez fuera de casa (de visita en casa de mis padres). Una granada enana que saqué de un jardín del vecindario. Y hoy, que retomamos las clases de mi hijo, me llevo las cosas para dibujar nuevamente allá. Al parecer hacerlo en casa es lo más difícil de lograr, ¿por qué será?

Bueno, estoy a dos días de que este blog cumpla un año en el ciberespacio. He estado reflexionando un poco sobre lo que significa para mí, así que espero poner algo al respecto en el siguiente post.

Second botanical drawing

This is actually the first drawing that I have done in 2010, two days ago, again not at home (during a visit to my parents). A dwarf pomegranate I took from a garden of the neighborhood. And today, that my son's classes will start again, I'm taking my drawing stuff to use them once again there. It seems that doing it (drawing) at home is the hardest thing to achieve, why is that?

Well, in about two days this blog will be one year on the cyberspace. I have been thinking a bit about what it means to me, so I hope to include something about that on the next post.

Primer dibujo botánico para 2010

Siempre comento que me encantan las plantas, pero últimamente he pintado/dibujado más otras cosas que plantas. Así que este año lo comienzo con una entrada con uno de mis temas favoritos. En este caso es una rama que tuvo flores y que al momento de dibujarla ya tenía los frutos y semillas secos y listos para germinar. Aquí les dejo una foto de la planta, muy parecida a la del jardín de mis vecinos (de donde la saqué :).

Este dibujo lo hice el mes pasado en la sala de espera de las clases de mi hijo, la ramita me acompañó varias veces hasta que la terminé.

First 2010 Botanical drawing

I always comment that I love plants, but lately I have painted/sketched most anything else but plants. So this year I'm starting with a post of one of my favorite themes. In this case it's a sprig that used to have flowers and that at the moment of drawing it, it already had dried fruits and seeds, ready to germinate. Here is a photo of the plant, very similar to the one on my neighbor's garden (where I took it from :)

I did this drawing last month while on the waiting room of my son's classes. The sprig came along with me many times until I finished it.

Cascabel

Este dibujo lo hice hoy mientras esperaba en la sala de espera a mi hijo. Estoy sola mientras espero en la sala, por si acaso :)

Por alguna extraña razón que no logro comprender del todo, me gusta mucho. Sí, no sé por qué, pero este dibujito me ha dejado contenta.

Jingle Bell

I did this sketch today at the waiting room while I was waiting for my son. I was alone in the waiting room, just in case :)

For some strange reason that I can't completely understand, I kind of like it a lot. Yes, I don't know why, but this little drawing has made me happy.

Botella de Alcohol y Mi Rodilla

Estoy trabajando en casa, como suelo hacerlo normalmente que tengo algún encargo (traducciones), pegada a la computadora, avanzando y también revisando correos, blogs y el bendito facebook. No tengo mucho tiempo para pintar últimamente, así que hoy pongo algo que hice hace unos días. Estos dibujos son parte de las cosas que hago mientras espero a mis hijos. De los presentables, claro :) La suerte que tengo es que no hay gente alrededor y tengo cierta tranquilidad para hacerlos y no pasar por loca. Y a veces también hago algunos en el auto (la botella de alcohol la hice en el auto justamente, la otra a solas esperando).
Y tengo que anunciarlo oficialmente: me retiré de las clases de pintura :( No tengo suficiente tiempo ahora a finales de año, y quisiera también buscar algo un poco más "académico". Me da penita, pero, ni modo...

Alcohol Bottle and My Knee

I’m working at home, as I usually do when I have a commission (translations), glued to the computer, making progress and checking on mails, blogs and crazy facebook. I don’t find much time to paint/sketch lately, so today I’m posting something I did a few days ago. These sketches are part of the things I do while waiting for my kids. The ones that can be shown, of course :) I’m lucky there’s no one around and that I find quietness to make them and not being taken as a crazy lady. Sometimes I sketch while I wait in the car (the alcohol bottle was done there, the other sketch while waiting alone).
And I have to announce officially: I’m gone from painting classes :( I have not enough time at the end of the year, and I would also like to find something more “academic”. It’s sad, but, that’s the way it is…

El rincón del psicoanálisis

Este dibujo es del sofá que está en la sala de espera donde mi hijo tiene clases en las tardes, siempre está igual porque más bien lo usan de mesa y de adorno que para sentarse. Perfecto para hacer de modelo. En menos de cuatro sesiones lo terminé. Me gusta cómo quedó. En una hoja de mi pequeño sketchbook (de "The Sketchbook Kit" de A. Colbert y A. Gair que mi esposo me trajo hace un par de años, y que recién estoy aprovechando).

Quiero aprovechar para saludar y agradecer a todas las personas que visitan este pequeño blog, a mis amigos cibernéticos que dejan tan amables comentarios, y que me hacen sentir tan bien con su presencia :) No es muy mi estilo poner este tipo de cosas, pero hoy sentí que hacía falta...

The Shrink's corner

This is the sketch of the couch at the waiting room where my son has classes the afternoons, it's always unaltered because it's more used as a table or decoration than as a seat. Perfect to be a model. I finished it in less than four sessions. I like how it turned out. In one page of my small sketchbook (from A. Colbert & A. Gair's "The Sketchbook Kit", that my husband gave me a couple of years ago, and that I'm now using).

I want to say hello and thank all the people that visit this blog, my friends on the Web who leave very kind comments and who make me feel so well with their pressence :) It's not much of my style to include things like this, but today I felt 'the urge'...

Y esta es la razón por la cual no hago figura humana

Aquí está mi autorretrato. Yo estaba bastante contenta, porque yo sí noto el parecido, jaja, y la profesora de mi clase de pintura también dice que no está mal. Pero la sinceridad de los niños es otra: "¿quién es?", dice mi sobrina, "mmm, no sé", dice mi hija... la verdad me da risa, y confirma el porqué no me atrae mucho el tema de la figura humana...

Pero mi hijo precioso dice "toda se parece a ti, sólo falta pintarlo". Eso salvó el día :)

Here is my self portrait. I was happy enough with it, because I do recognize the resemblance, haha, and my painting teacher says it's not bad. But kids sincerity is something else: "who is this?", my niece says, "mmm, I don't know who this is", that's my daughter... it makes me laugh, and confirms why I'm not so into the human figure subject...

But my beautiful son said "it all looks like you, it only needs to be painted". That saved the day :)

Mi primera clase: Examen de entrada

-¿Qué te gusta pintar?

-Bueno, hago de todo un poco, naturalezas muertas, plantas...

-¡Ah! bien, entonces, aquí hay un bodegón para ti, quiero ver cómo pintas

Las siguientes dos horas dieron como producto de mi esfuerzo el dibujo de más arriba. Y dieron como resultado que tengo serios problemas con el tema de la perspectiva. Hice las preguntas de rigor, y algo se me aclaró el asunto, aunque no del todo. Estas clases son muy relajadas, son para ir y dejarse llevar, no son muy sistemáticas ni exigentes, pero sí son divertidas, y me permiten un buen par de horas de concentración absoluta en el tema y hacer muchas preguntas. La paso bien. Mi segundo tema a hacer es mi auto-retrato en carboncillo. Pienso publicarlo en uno de los próximos posts cuando lo termine.

And my effort during the following two hours yielded the above drawing. I also came to the conclusion that I have serious problems with perspective. I made the essential inquiries about the subject and it got somewhat clearer, but not completely. These are very relaxed classes, the kind to attend to and enjoy, they’re not systematic or too demanding, but fun, and allow me a good couple of hours of absolute concentration in painting and to make a lot of questions. I have a great time.
My second class subject is a self-portrait on pencil. I’m planning to post it soon when I finish it.

Dibujo rápido

Este dibujo lo hice en mi sketchbook, rapidito. Desde hace mucho tiempo quiero hacer una pintura con cosas de tocador, pero con más cosas de vidrio y pañuelos. Este puede ser algo cercano a ese deseo, aunque no es todo lo que tenía en mente.

I did this sketch on my sketchbook, a quicky. For a long time I've been desiring to paint personal care stuff, but with more glass objects and scarves. This could be something close to that wish, although not exactly what I had in mind.
